Inuit Society and Culture - Museums and Galleries

Museums and Galleries

Per capita, Nunavut has more artists than any other territory or province in Canada. To say that we as Nunavummiut have significantly contributed to art and culture in Canada is an understatement!

Many of our communities have galleries and museums that display paintings, prints, carvings, and other work from Inuit artists.

In Iqaluit, we have the famous Nunatta Sunakkutaangit Museum. In Baker Lake, there is the Jessie Oonark Centre. In Cambridge Bay, the Kitikmeot Heritage Centre is a must see. These are just a few of the many places that host and promote the artistic expressions and treasures created by our families, friends, and neighbours.
